January is Board of Education Recognition Month! Board Member Spotlight: Amy Cawvey
January is School Board Appreciation Month! Please join us as we show appreciation to our school board members for volunteering their time and advocating on behalf of every child in our community. We will be featuring each school board member on the website throughout the month.
Today's spotlight will be on our Lansing USD469 Board Member Amy Cawvey.
Mrs. Cawvey was elected in November 2021 and took office in January 2022. Her family moved to Lansing in January 2016 after her husband of 31 years retired from the Air Force. They have two adult children, an 18-year-old daughter who is a Lansing High School graduate, and a grandson.
Traveling from assignment to assignment, she has valued the opportunities presented for community involvement. She served twice as president and once as vice president for the Parent Teacher Organization and was an elementary school substitute teacher at her children's schools. She has been a Boy Scout and Girl Scout troop leader, soccer and softball coach, and a volunteer sailing instructor in the community.
"I ran for the school board to be a voice for the community. In any decision, I pledge fiscal responsibility and to vote in the best interest of taxpayers, school staff, parents, and, most importantly, students."
