Announcing the First 2023 Lansing USD469 Educational Support Professional of the Year - John Garrett (VIDEO)
Lansing USD469 is pleased to announce that John Garrett, the lead custodian at Lansing Middle School, has been named one of the 2023 Educational Support Professionals of the Year. Mr. Garrett will be recognized at this year's Lansing Educational Foundation Honors Breakfast on Friday, May 5th, where he will receive four tickets to attend and a grant for $250 to be used at Lansing Middle School.
Mr. Garrett has been a custodian at Lansing Middle School for over ten years and has demonstrated exceptional dedication to his work. He is known for his dependability, attention to detail, and willingness to go above and beyond to meet the school's needs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Garrett ramped up his already-high standards for cleanliness, working tirelessly to keep the building safe and sanitized for students and staff.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Mr. Garrett has remained committed to his job. His focus has always been on ensuring the school functions at the highest level possible, and his efforts have not gone unnoticed. He has even worked double shifts to ensure the necessary tasks are completed.
The Educational Support Professional of the Year award recognizes the contributions of non-teaching staff in schools and celebrates their vital role in supporting students, teachers, and the overall learning environment. Mr. Garrett's nomination and selection as this year's winner highlight the critical work that custodians, maintenance staff, and other support professionals do daily to keep our schools running smoothly.
