May 8, 2023 Board of Education Recognition: Olivia Buchter and Ann Andrews (VIDEO)
Lansing USD469 would like to congratulate Lansing Elementary School student Olivia Buchter for being our May Board of Education Student of the Month and Ann Andrews for being our Staff Member of the Month!
Olivia, who is a third-grader at Lansing Elementary School was selected for not only being a fantastic student, but a good human as well:
"This student does an outstanding job of always being on task, pushing herself academically, and trying to meet her own personal social goals-even if that is a little scary. She is a great student, friend, and human! No matter what, she will always give it her all. She is a great inspiration to our classroom."
Mrs. Andrews was selected for being an enthusiastic, stand-out teacher at Lansing Middle School:
"Mrs. Andrews has been teaching at Lansing Middle School for a number of years, and during that time, she has worked with kids in all three grade levels. One thing that has been consistent is her enthusiasm for her job and ability to establish rapport with students. I have worked with Mrs. Andrews as a teammate, and my kids have had her as a teacher (one currently). She is a great co-worker who can be counted on at all times to do everything she is supposed to do and more. She makes history lessons fun and engaging - kids love being in her class. She is able to relate to students and laugh with them, and this combination is a magical one that results in life-long connections and memories. I guarantee there are kids from 20 years ago as well as those who are currently in 8th grade who would say Mrs. Andrews is their favorite teacher and could tell you a story about her. Some people have inborn talent that makes being a great teacher come so naturally to them, and Ann Andrews is one of those people. Lansing is lucky to have her."
