April 10, 2023 Board of Education Recognition: Hannah Platt, Meghan Anderson, and Suzanne Phillips (VIDEO)
Lansing USD469 would like to congratulate Lansing High School student Hannah Platt for being our April Board of Education Student of the Month and Suzanne Phillips and Meghan Anderson for being our Staff Members of the Month!
In a world that seems to be full of negativity, Hannah Platt was nominated for keeping her positive spirit and helping others:
"Hannah is not only a great player, but a wonderful human being. She’s never had anything negative to say and always tries to help people and her section be not only better players, but better people."
Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Anderson were nominated for their outstanding work in getting our new STEM program up and running and for organizing the Family STEM night on March 30th:
"Suzanne and Meghan have worked incredibly hard this year to implement a new STEM program for our K-5 students. This program has positively impacted our students by exposing them to various science and mathematics concepts with a focus on hands-on learning. Perhaps more importantly, this program helps students develop critical thinking skills, enhances their creativity, and helps prepare them for a wide variety of future career paths like engineering, health care, and technology. On March 30th Suzanne and Meghan helped organize a Family STEM Night at Lansing Intermediate School hosted by the PTA. This was a tremendous night of learning and fun for our many of our Lansing Elementary and Intermediate School families. The amount of planning needed to ensure the success of this event included countless hours of prepping station activities and the materials needed for each build. In addition to the activities, there were professionals available to speak with families about their careers in STEM fields. I'm not sure of the actual number but I would guess there were somewhere around 300 people in attendance. Please consider recognizing these wonderful educators for their hard work and dedication to the STEM program and for creating such a fantastic event of family engagement."
