Lansing Girls Swim Team Defend UKC Title!
The girl's swim UKC trophy took its longest trip in its short history. Yesterday, the trophy road the bus to Topeka and back. The girls successfully defended their title dominantly with a 69-point win over the second-place team, Seaman. Last year, the margin of victory was 50. What makes this year more impressive is that we had a little adversity at the beginning of the meet, with our relay being disqualified. The girls stayed focused on working their way back, taking the lead for good after event 5.
Of note, 2 Lansing swimmers were selected as Swimmer(s) of the Year: Adrian Escalante (SR) and Makaila Hayes (SO). Makaila was UKC champion in 200 Free. Both our 200 and 400 Free Relays were UKC champions.
The girls are having a great season, winning every home invitational, winning two away invitationals, and easily winning UKC. The 3 Lansing relays are currently among the fastest 3 in the state.
If you see one of these competitors, please wish them good luck as they head to the State competition next weekend.
