Lansing Lions Speech & Debate Team Shines at NCFL Tournament
The Lansing Lions Speech & Debate team had a stellar performance at the NCFL Tournament held in Chicago on May 25-26. The team, led by Coach Larissa Maranell, demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication across various events.
Highlights from the Tournament:
- Lynx Taylor: Competed in Lincoln-Douglas (LD) debate, achieving a record of 3-2. Despite the strong performance, Taylor narrowly missed advancing to the next round by just a few ballots.
- Chris Achord & Jack Corrigan: This dynamic duo also achieved a 3-2 record in Policy debate. Similar to Taylor, they were close to breaking into the next round, missing out by a slim margin.
- Patrick Wong: Delivered an outstanding performance in Dramatic Performance, securing 7th place overall. Wong missed advancing to the finals due to a tight tie-breaker.
Coach Maranell was incredibly proud of her team's performance throughout the tournament.
"Lansing Lions Speech & Debate had an AMAZING weekend in Chicago!" she said.
The team is now eagerly preparing for their last national tournament of the season, which will take place from June 16-22 in Des Moines, Iowa.
