Lansing High School NSHS Students Visit Elementary School To Share Hispanic Culture with Kindergarteners
In February, the Lansing High School National Spanish Honor Society (NSHS), led by senior Montaha Jornaz, visited Lansing Elementary School. The goal of NSHS is to promote knowledge and understanding of Hispanic culture and heritage, and our high school students took the initiative to share that knowledge with our kindergarten students.
They brought candy-filled paper bags for our younger Lions, accommodating any food allergies. Each kindergartener got a bag and had fun decorating it with tissue paper and attaching donkey heads to simulate piñatas. This activity not only introduced them to a Hispanic tradition but also taught them some basic Spanish words.
It also offered them the unique opportunity to learn about different cultures and heritages around the world and open their eyes to fun activities and traditions that come with learning.
In the end, not only were the Kindergartners having fun and learning about Hispanic culture, but so were the club members.

"Helping kindergartners enjoy Hispanic cultures and traditions brought excitement to the club and community," said Miss Jornaz. "We look forward to more projects with the community in the future!"
Overall, the visit was a chance for both groups to have fun, learn, and build connections within the community.
