Katie Larson, 7th grade Special Education Teacher
Question: How long have you worked for Lansing USD469?
Answer: I have been working in Lansing for sixteen years.
Question: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and the role you have within the school district?
Answer: I get to work with students on their specific skill needs. I get to teach Language Arts and Literature.
Question: What do you enjoy most about your role and the work you do in the school district?
Answer: I enjoy getting to work with students in a smaller group setting, and getting to know students. It's fun to learn about them, their interests, and how they feel when they're at school.
Question: What is something unusual about you that most people don't know?
Answer: I like to watch true crime shows and I have had a life-long crush on Sylvester Stallone.
Question: When you're not working, what hobbies or activities do you enjoy?
Answer: I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, gardening, cooking, and taking our dogs for walks and on trips with us.
Question: Could you share a particularly heartwarming or memorable experience you've had while working with students or colleagues?
Answer: It warms my heart to see a student "get something", or achieve a goal they have set for themselves! It is always such a blessing when a former student goes out of their way to say hello or to let me know how they're doing!
Question: What piece of advice would you like to offer to students to help them succeed and make the most of their educational journey?
Answer: Always have an open mind and a willingness to try
