Hallie Hughes, MTSS Aide
Question: How long have you worked for Lansing USD469?
Answer: 6 years
Question: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and the role you have within the school district?
Answer: As an MTSS Aide, I work in a small group setting, with both Tier 2 and Tier 3 students, helping fill gaps with their reading and math skills. Working in small groups allows our team to break instruction down so our students can better understand the steps, processes and fundamentals that are used in either/both reading and math. I am fortunate to work with an incredible intervention team!
Question: What do you enjoy most about your role and the work you do in the school district?
Answer: I just plain love coming to work! I enjoy greeting and being greeted by students and staff each day, as well as, talking to students as they are getting picked up at car rider line during dismissal. My favorite part about being an MTSS Aide is celebrating the little and big successes with the students I have in group and showing how proud I am of them.
Question: When you're not working, what hobbies or activities do you enjoy?
Answer: I am a mother of three very active boys, one is at Lansing High School, the Intermediate and Elementary School. I love that they are involved in many sports, and baseball season is my favorite season.
Question: What is something unusual about you that most people don't know?
Answer: I might be obsessed with plants... My plants have names :)
Question: Could you share a particularly heartwarming or memorable experience you've had while working with students or colleagues?
Answer: Throughout the years, I have enjoyed watching the light in students grow and they are so eager and excited to share their light with others to help make everyone’s day brighter.
Question: What piece of advice would you like to offer to students to help them succeed and make the most of their educational journey?
Answer: "Re-set, re-adjust, re-start, re-focus as many times as you need to, just don't quit." And always celebrate your progress!
STRATEGIC PLAN: Positive Culture - Develop incentives to assist in recruitment/retention of all staff.
