January is Board of Education Recognition Month! Board Member Spotlight: Pete Im
January is School Board Appreciation Month! Please join us as we show appreciation to our school board members for volunteering their time and advocating on behalf of every child in our community. We will be featuring each school board member on the website throughout the month.
Today's spotlight will be on our Lansing USD469 Board Member Pete Im.
Mr. Pete Im was elected in November 2023 to a four-year term on the Lansing School Board. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
Mr. Im and his wife Jeanne were assigned to Fort Leavenworth in 2003, making Lansing their home. They left Lansing after their tour and returned to Lansing in 2013 with their two sons. The Ims have been a Lansing Schools family ever since.
Mr. Im grew up in Traverse City, Michigan, and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. He earned Master's degrees during his military career from the National Intelligence University, the Army Command and General Staff College (School of Advanced Military Studies), and the Army War College. He retired from active duty in 2016 and has served as an Army Civilian Professional ever since. Mr. Im's interest in serving on the Lansing School Board comes from his belief that you can measure the quality of a community by the way it values and enables education and educators. Mr. Im is committed to bringing his skills and leadership experience on behalf of our Lansing community.
"It is an honor to be selected to represent our community on behalf ALL of our children - Together, Everyone Achieves More."
