Announcing the Second 2023 Lansing USD469 Educational Support Professional of the Year - Penny Lingenfelter (VIDEO)
Lansing USD469 is pleased to announce that Penny Lingenfelter, the kitchen manager at Lansing High School, has been named one of the 2023 Educational Support Professionals of the Year. Ms. Lingenfelter will be recognized for her exceptional work at this year's Lansing Educational Foundation Honors Breakfast on May 5th. She will receive four tickets to attend the event and a grant of $250 to be used at the school.
Ms. Lingenfelter's nomination stood out among the rest due to her professionalism, understanding, and helpfulness when dealing with sometimes-sensitive questions about kids. She is highly regarded by the staff, who rely on her for guidance, and she is always willing to lend a hand when supporting the school's Helping Hands program. Her sense of humor, meanwhile, keeps everyone laughing, and she's an integral part of the school community.
But it is Ms. Lingenfelter's interactions with students that really set her apart. They love and respect her, and it's apparent that she cares deeply about their well-being. She takes the time to chat with them, offering a quip and a smile while they grab their lunches, and helps them to relax and take a break before heading back to class. And while some students may take a while to get used to her, they ultimately learn valuable lessons about what it means to be a good human being.
In the words of one of her nominees, "Penny is indispensable and absolutely deserves recognition!"
Congratulations to Penny Lingenfelter on this well-deserved honor!
