Lansing High School Kansas Association of Youth (KAYs) Holds Successful Blood Drive in November
On Wednesday, November 9th, the Lansing High School Kansas Association of Youth (KAYs) ran their annual Fall Blood Drive. This event was organized by KAY board members Emma Miller and Patrick Wong. Student and community members had the chance to donate blood and save lives through the Community Blood Center. We had 34 donors able to donate and that blood will be distributed to local area hospitals. We had the following:
- 19 Whole blood donors
- 6 2RBC donors (here is the red cross explanation “Power Red is similar to a whole blood donation, except a special machine is used to allow you to safely donate two units of red blood cells during one donation while returning your plasma and platelets to you.”) Getting about 12 pints.
- We collected about 31 pints which saves approximately 93 lives!
- We also had 13 first time donors.
- Thank you to Ms. Sells for the photos and article
