Lansing Educational Foundation Holds First Ever Rugged 5k!
Lansing Education Foundation (LEF) held the first-ever “Mane Event Rugged 5K” on November 24 at Lansing High School. This was the foundation’s first time hosting a fundraising event since the start of the pandemic. They raised over $13,000 thanks to corporate donors and event registrations (see list below). Mona Hauver (Lansing High School) organized the 5K alongside LEF President Christine Aus and LEF representatives Rich Hauver, Christina Hoverson, Christa Martin, Christy McKnight, John Harriss, Patti Boe-Cackler, Chuck Moorehead, Eric Valenstein, Ashley Reddell, Janelle Moburg, Jane Plessel, Jennah Flynn and Carole Page. Other community volunteers included Megan Ernzen, Nicole Yedlinsky, Nick Flynn (Middle School Vice-Principal), Mike & Megan Seebeck, Marcus Collins (JROTC), Emma Jaskowiec & Anne Vodarick (KAYS), Bobby Hauver, and Missy Matt.
The race attracted over 90 participants from all over the Lansing/Leavenworth communities. The 1st place winner was Lansing High School’s own Niklas Schintgen. He completed the rugged 5K in 21 minutes and 33 seconds. The 2nd place finisher was Lansing High School’s Principal, Rob McKim, who finished the course in 24 minutes and 14 seconds. The top women’s finisher was Emily Harsh, who finished in 28 minutes and 54 seconds. To see a complete list of race results, please click here.
The foundation’s primary goal is to support innovative learning opportunities in the Lansing School District.
