Lansing Educational Foundation announces the Lansing USD 469 Elementary Teacher of the Year!
Congratulations to Lansing's Elementary Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Janet Moorehead! Mrs. Moorehead has been teaching for twenty-six years, and Lansing is incredibly lucky to have her as a kindergarten teacher in our district.
"Mrs. Moorehead cares about the little things." said one of her nominators. "She is always very innovative, creating activities on the fly."
"I had her in kindergarten, and I still talk to her to this day," said one of her previous students who is now in high school. "She introduced my love for teaching and continues to encourage me to come to her classroom and observe."
Principal Tim Newton and Assistant Principal Mindy Wells surprised her with the award at a Lansing Elementary School virtual staff meeting on Thursday, April 9th.
"I am thrilled on being nominated and receiving the honor of being Lansing Teacher of the Year!" said Mrs. Moorehead. "I have worked as an elementary teacher for 26 years. The last 14 years, I have been in the Lansing School District. I have had the privilege of working with amazing teachers and administrators throughout my career. I wouldn’t have made it without these supportive teacher friends in my life!"
On behalf of Lansing School District and Lansing Educational Foundation, thank you, Mrs. Moorehead, for being such an incredible teacher to our little lions and a wonderful mentor to your previous students!
