Lansing Middle School Students Display Their Creativity in Food Truck Design Challenge
Students in Mrs. Sara Meyers's computer class at Lansing Middle School have been busy designing, planning, and creating their own food trucks as part of a Computer Applications Unit focusing on business management, marketing, and culinary skills. The eighth graders have tested their creativity and skills by designing visually appealing food trucks that can draw customers to their businesses.
As part of the project, the students were tasked with creating their menus and designing their trucks to appeal to customers. Mrs. Meyers then displayed the students' food trucks and menus in the Lansing Middle School library.
Superintendent Dan Wessel, Director of Teaching & Learning Miles Azzeh, and Director of Communications Sharon Burns were invited to judge the designs and award the top three. The judging aspect of the competition focused on the visual appeal of the food trucks and menus and what would draw people/customers to their businesses.
In addition to designing their food trucks, the students also worked hard on their branding, which included coming up with a unique name, logo, and slogan for their businesses.
After careful consideration, the judges chose the top three designs. The first-place award went to "Rice-Zilla," a food truck specializing in Asian-inspired cuisine. The second-place award went to "Coral Candy," a food truck serving sweet treats, and the third-place award went to "Doughy Donuts," a food truck specializing in delicious donuts.
