September 3rd Lansing Elementary Weekly Update from Dr. Jennifer Kolb
September 3, 2022
Dear Families,
We are excited to enter the month of September! Please join us this Thursday from 6-8 PM at LES as we celebrate our K-5 BACK TO SCHOOL BASH sponsored by our PTA! This is a free family event and will include bounce houses, live music, face painting, crafts, and much more! Food & concessions will also be available for purchase.
We appreciate everyone's patience as we needed to "lock out" the building twice last week. This was in response to events at the correctional facility. We were able to continue teaching and learning during the lock out.
We have completed our academic screeners and will start small groups for students who need additional supports on September 12th. We will reach out to families if your student will receive support for either reading and/or math.We also have class lessons starting with our counselors.
If you have any questions about benchmark testing and/ or class lessons with our counselors, please reach out! Have a wonderful, long weekend! We will see everyone on Tuesday (September 6).
A few reminders:
Safety: We have implemented increased security measures. Parents/guardians will not be allowed to enter the building during arrival or dismissal. Parents needing access during the school day will need to call or use the walkie-talkie at the entrance. Anyone needing assistance encouraging a student to come into the building should park in a parking space and call 913-727-1128. If you need to pick up your child before the end of the school day, please call ahead and have your identification ready. The number to call is 913-727-1128. Please remain in your vehicle during arrival and dismissal, except when buckling/unbuckling. Please also move car seats, so students are exiting curb-side.
Attendance- Please call us at 913-727-1128 in the event your student will not be at school, will be in to school late, or needs to leave early. This allows us to accurately record attendance. We will also be reaching out to families next week if students have accumulated 3 or more unexcused absences this year.
Traffic: Thank you for following our traffic patterns. Kindergarten car rider parents, if you can add your teacher's name to your yellow tag that will assist us at car rider dismissal.
