September 2nd Weekly Update from LHS Principal Alan Penrose with Staff and Student Recognitions
It has been an exciting start to the school year. The welcoming, supportive, and successful culture of Lansing High School is evident in everything we do. Students are supportive of each other, helpful to all, and eager to succeed. Staff members focus in ensuring all students succeed and building positive mentoring relationships with students.
In the first Weekly Update, pep assembly, and class introductions we encouraged students to get involved in sports, activities, and clubs. We also talked about what class involvement looks like.
In September, we will focus on intentional improvement. There are many ways for students to get better - from trying more challenging assignments to asking questions for better understanding. Our CCR classes are great times to focus on this and have support from a teacher. On Mondays students will work with their CCR teacher to check in on grades, missing assignments, and plans to improve. Tuesdays and Thursdays provide opportunities for students to travel to classes for make up work, tests, or additional help.
Parents, you have a great opportunity to talk to your student about ways to get better each day. Parents have access to Canvas courses as observers and can see their student's grades, assignments, and assignment submissions.
Its a great day to be a Lion!
