Second-grade Students Bring Historical Figures to Life in Living History Museum
On Friday, February 24th, Shalee Eilderts, Barb Robinson, and Wykeya Taylor's second-grade classes came together in the gymnasium of Lansing Elementary School to present a Living History Museum. This event allowed the young students to showcase their biography book reports by becoming the person they had selected and had been learning about over the past month. Parents and staff members were invited to attend the event and witness the presentations given by our young historians.
The students had been preparing for this event since the beginning of the month when they were each assigned a famous person to research. The students had to come up with at least five interesting facts about their selected person and create a presentation to give as that individual. The results were impressive, with the young students becoming experts on historical figures such as Gabrielle Channel, Woodrow Wilson, Amelia Earhart, John F. Kennedy, and many others.
The Living History Museum allowed the students to step into the shoes of their chosen person and bring them to life. Each student dressed up in a costume that resembled their chosen character. The students gave their presentations with poise and confidence, impressing the attendees with their knowledge and creativity.
The Living History Museum was a great way to teach the students about important historical figures while promoting creativity and public speaking skills. The students were able to learn about these famous people's lives and present their findings in a fun and engaging way. This event also provided an opportunity for parents and staff members to see the incredible progress the students had made over the past few weeks.
