Lansing Middle School Advanced Studies Students Visit University of Kansas for STEAM Field Trip
On November 9th, advanced studies visited the University of Kansas for a STEAM field trip. Students were provided guided tours of multiple museums. Students experienced materials testing in the civil engineering facilities. Students were given a tour of the formula car lab where KU engineering students design and build every piece of cars that are raced against other schools. Dr. Barrett-Gonzalez, KU Professor of Aerospace Engineering and Director of the Adaptive Aerostructures and Aircraft Design Laboratories, invited students into his lab and discussed design. Students ended the day with the opportunity to fly drones in the Engineering Department’s commons area. The visit served to spark and reinforce further exploration into engineering careers for our students.
