Weekly Update of Lansing High School Students Enrolled in KCKCC PCC - Culinary, Early Childhood, HVAC, Community Event
Lansing USD 469 is proud to highlight our Lansing High School students and graduates enrolled in Kansas City Kansas Community Center Pioneer Career Center (KCKCC PCC) each week.
CULINARY
Roasted Vegetables
Culinary students cut carrots, brussel sprouts, and cauliflower to season and roast in the oven.
Culinary Program: Francisco Verzola
HVAC
Threading a Pipe
HVAC students used a pipe cutter with a high-strength cutting wheel to cut the pipe while the pipe was affixed to the tri stand with a bench yolk to hold the pipe steady. Students used a pipe reamer to restore the inner diameter of the pipe after cleaning it and then used the cutting die heads to create the threads while applying lubrication
HVAC Program: John Coburn
Cutting Sheet Metal
HVAC students learned to use tin snips to make a straight clean cut. Tin snips are shears that resemble scissors but are stronger and have a heavier blade to make cutting metal easy.
HVAC Program: John Coburn and Jacob Ryan
Early Childhood Education Program
Visit to the Leavenworth Women's Y
The Early Childhood Education Program visited the local Women's Y to gather information on their curriculum and to observe in a classroom setting.
The Brain Architecture Game
The Early Childhood Education students played the "Brain Game." The goal of this game is to build a brain that is tall, which represents functional brain ability but is also as strong as possible so that it won't collapse in later years under the burdens of stress.
Early Childhood Program: Jamecia Brown Rodgers, Kenadie Rollman and Lexi Seber
KCKCC PCC Community Event
Community Blood Drive
KCKCC PCC students, faculty, staff and the Leavenworth community donated during our blood drive. We had 23 donors...thank you to everyone who donated.
Dave Wheatman, HVAC Instructor, incentivized his students by giving them "extra credit" if they donated blood for the KCKCC PCC Community Blood Center drive this week. The HVAC student participation in the blood drive gave us the extra push to boost our donor donations. During our drive this week, we had 23 donors...thank you to everyone!
