Standard Response Protocol Update
Hello Lansing USD469 Families,
I appreciate everyone’s cooperation and patience during yesterday and today’s Lock Out protocol. While not ideal, the situation allowed us to build on the things we did right and work on the areas that need improvement.
I met with our Director of Emergency Preparedness Kevin McCarley this morning to discuss the events from yesterday and want to remind our parents that we must abide by our Standard Response Protocols (SRP) when they are set in place.
One thing of note – moving forward, the term “Secure” will replace “Lock Out.”
During a “Secure” protocol, absolutely no one goes in or out of our buildings. As we did today, we will move to a “Monitored Entry/Controlled Release” protocol if the situation warrants it.
When we give the directive of “Secure” (formerly “Lock Out”), we must not let students, parents, or staff in or out of the building during this time – no exceptions. We understand this could be an inconvenience, but these rules are in place for a reason, and keeping our students and staff safe is my #1 priority.
Again, we appreciate your patience and willingness to adapt to these unforeseen circumstances.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our students safe!
Dan Wessel
