Director of Teaching & Learning Miles Azzeh's Academic Spotlight: Laurie Holden
Our Lansing USD 469 teachers are incredible at engaging our students in fantastic learning opportunities to reach their full potential every day in our district. To highlight and bring recognition to this great work, Director of Teaching and Learning Miles Azzeh will be regularly shining a spotlight on a stand-out teacher through "academic spotlights."
December 16, 2021 Academic Spotlights by Mr. Miles Azzeh:
"Lansing Intermediate School (LIS) has done a fabulous job this semester instituting daily recreational reading time for all of our students! After winter break, one of our 4th-grade teachers, Mrs. Laurie Holden, will be trying a new 'don't judge a book by its cover' initiative to get her students to read new books based on the first line in the story. She will do this by covering her book covers with paper and writing the book's first line on the outside. She will be setting the covered books up for her fourth-graders to choose when they are looking for a new book to read during their daily independent reading time next semester.
Words cannot describe how proud I am of Laurie and the staff at LIS for helping our kids discover and strengthen their love of reading!"
