Congratulations to Lansing Theatre for receiving seven Blue Star Nominations for James and the Giant Peach!
The Lansing High School Theatre Department received an incredible seven nominations for this fall's production of James and the Giant Peach. This is more nominations than any other production at Lansing High School and a tremendous accomplishment for all involved.
Starlight's Blue Star Awards are similar to Broadway's Tony Awards in that they recognize exceptional musical theatre productions in the Kansas City area. Starlight sends theatre professionals to attend high school productions, where they take notes and provide feedback to Starlight's Education Department and each school's theatre teachers and students.
James and the Giant Peach received the following nominations:
- Outstanding Costume Design and Construction, Tier 1
- Outstanding Hair and Makeup Design
- Rising Star Scholarship - Paige Padgett
- Outstanding Actress in a Supporting Role - Megan Darley
- Outstanding Actress in a Support Role - Paige Padgett
- Outstanding Actor in a Featured Role - Will Snodgrass
- Outstanding Actress in a Feature Role - Heidi Barber
Mr. Casey McCord was thrilled with the number of nominations. "This is a huge honor for our program, going from 3 nominations to 7 in one year. I'm incredibly proud of all of the hard work our students put into this show and into building the program to a new level of excellence."
