Lansing Middle School held spelling bees for each grade level earlier this semester, and sent the top spellers from each grade level to compete in both the Leavenworth County Spelling Bee and Kaw Valley League Spelling Bee this month.
"These kids worked really hard and represented LMS well," said Rachel Sheeley, Lansing Middle School teacher and sponsor for the spelling bee competitors.
Representing Lansing at the Leavenworth County Spelling Bee was 6th grader CJ Yedlinsky, 7th grader Elisabeth Wangsgaard, and 8thgrader Nikki Svaredarsky. Lansing students all did well, with seventh grader Elisabeth Wangsgaard taking second place overall.
At the Kaw Valley tournament, students competed at each grade level and Lansing had an incredible showing. Lansing 6th grade students swept their division with CJ Yedlinsky taking 1st, Grace Seward placing 2nd and Anna Yedlinsky placing 3rd. Lansing students placed in every grade level at the event.
Great job Lansing Lions!
